Zitat Nature: We conclude that many old novae become dwarf novae for part of the millennia between successive nova eruptions.

I came across this article in SuW. https://www.nature.com/articles/nature23644.
Apart from the identification of the white dwarf, who is responsible for the outbreak, another insight seems to me to be decisive, which is suppressed in SuW.

Quote Nature:We conclude that many old novae become dwarf novae for part of the millennia between successive nova eruptions.

Already 30 years ago there were already corresponding assumptions (see reference 20 in the article). There are some colleagues here who spectroscopy Novae and Dwarf Novae. I think the article might be of interest, especially with regard to corresponding evaluations in later years or possibly even in much later time. The authors had evaluated data up to 90 years old for the object proper motion alone. Data archiving is therefore important!

Gruß, Thomas
