Dear Dong Li:

I hope you are able to participate in our WR-star campaign that started on May 17 and will go until Sept 17. Your geographic situation is rather unique for us, since it will fill in a precious time gap. If you can obtain even just one good spectrum of WR134, WR135 and WR137 each night, this would be most valuable. Even more spectra would be even better....

Thanks!

Tony Moffat

Hi Martin,

How are you recently? Thank you very much for all these information. But because my PC is Chinese version WindowsXP, I can not run Vspec, NIST seems so professional to me, Bild a little bit confused, can not understand well about it. Bild

I am going to try both your and Bernhard's advice, the links given by you have been read for a few times before, perhaps they are only theoratical, I think that I will understand well about these through WR campaign. Bild you know, however ths is 1st time for me to make spectrum rather than Ha.

BTW a question: I use Neon for 540nm calibration, is the function of neon-lines equal to those of water lines used for Ha?

cheers, Dong

Betreff des Beitrags:  questions about WR's instrument response

Hi Tony,

I will not be able to contribute much until late in the campaign due to limited (non existent currently!) hours of darkness here but I was wondering if there is any interest in extending observations beyond 17th September which would be possible from here, though with high risk of gaps due to the weather of course

Cheers
Robin

Hi Robin:

Good to hear from you! While your northern summer nights are short or even non-existent, in winter it?s the other way round! So, yes, please continue on as long as you can before Santa blocks the stars on his way south... It would be great to extend the campaign as long as possible this year.

Cheers, Tony

Hi Robin,

I will try to do also, being back in Glan-Münchweiler. I will use my Lhires with the C11 or the C14 I don't know yet exactly......

Please tell me , which configuration you will use with the Lhires........slit width? grating? Wavelengthrange?Expositiontime?............. the stars are rather week but I'll try it again .....

cheers

Hi Berthold,

C11, 1200 grating, 35um slit, ATIK 314L 2x binned.
I get ~1.3A resolution and ~160-180 SNR in a total 1 hour exposure.
I will probably concentrate only on 5600-5940A (CIII, CIV lines) so I do not need to change wavelength and I can use the IS Na D lines as a calibration reference.
