Hello
I am thinking of upgrading my spectrograph.
One thing will be to change my reflective slit with one with better quality(less reflections). Also it will be narrower. So from 31.6 microns i will use a 25microns slit.
Second I am thinking of getting a second grating to achieve a higher resolution and be able to get spectra for the BRITE project.
The grating I use now has 1200l/mm and I want to buy a new one with 2400 l/mm.
Based on the simspec_slit_e.xls the grating has to be at least 41,2mm wide.
Optometrics have some nice grating but the shipping costs are 100€.
So it seems that i will buy it from Edmund Optics.
The telescope I will use is a MEADE LX200GPS 14''.
The spectrograph is optimized at f/5-7.
What will happen if I get a smaller grating with 2400 l/mm?
Will I have a dramatic fall in resolution, compared to a bigger grating?
