I have had experience of Hopkins and I recommend being very careful dealing with him. He does not know this subject well but this does not stop him trying to convince people that he is an expert. If you point out his mistakes he will respond by personally attacking you. There is a lot of incorrect information and bad advice on that website. Robin |

Hello Rainer, If you belong to his group (I will not be allowed to join) Ask Hopkins why the colour spectrum labelled Vega on this page shows broad molecular bands instead of the expected Balmer lines http://www.hposoft.com/Orion/Spectroscopy.html The reason is it is a spectrum of M type star delta Vir which I recorded here http://www.threehillsobservatory.co.uk/ ... tra_14.htm and he stole from the Star Analyser website here http://www.patonhawksley.co.uk/gallery.html The spectrum profile also shown on his website there is obviously from a different star but still does not show the Balmer lines for Vega. He also shows the same spectrum image here http://www.hposoft.com/Orion/SA.html where he gives information about the exposure , telescope and camera he used. This is complete fiction. It was actually taken by me with a Vixen VC200L and a Toucam webcam and is a stack of many exposures. The DSI Pro II camera he says it was measured with is not even a colour camera. This is typical of the way Hopkins works. I have many other examples. He cannot be trusted and neither can the information on his website Cheers Robin |

Hi all, maybe it's better to leave this in the non-public forum section. Cheers, Thomas |

Zitat: Hi Robin,
he is appearently member of the NRA (National Rifle Association). http://www.hposoft.com/ But can he really strike me in Germany by his weapons? Cheers Christian Luckily he only fires words But seriously, he is misleading many new spectroscopists in the US and he lives on publicity. None of the experienced amateur spectroscopists here in Europe are working with him. Cheers Robin |
