Hi all! Here is a project Tony Moffat (Montréal) put together that might be of special interest for you. Currently BRITE is observing the famous O-type short-period binary UW CMa, in case you are interested. Updating of the wiki which gives what’s being and will be observed is in progress. http://stsci.de/pdf/DRAFT_v4.pdf Cheers, Thomas |

Hi Thom: Thanks for posting this! I already have SASER involved. And for 6 weeks I had a visitor (Jamammad Rustamov) from Azarbaijan here to negotiate joint observations using their 2m Zeiss telescope near Baku for spectroscopy. Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! Hi Thomas, As you know, the southern hemisphere SASER group is also working on this project and I am wondering if there is a way we can coordinate/communicate with any northern hemisphere amateurs who plan to participate, especially if we happen to pick some stars visible to both north and south. What do you think? Cheers, Bernard SASER (Australia) https://www.avast.com/?utm_medium=email ... mailclient This email has been sent from a virus-free computer protected by Avast. www.avast.com |

Hi, the Position of the mentioned star is to near the horizont for me (my position is nearly N50°!) But what is with the other stars in the list attached? I asked Prof. Moffat what format of spectra he whish........raw spectra or reduced one. But at time I have no answer...... Do you know this cheers berthold |

Hi all: Sorry to be slow in answering, Berthold. The idea is for you to choose your own targets based on a 2-step process: 1. From the list I circulated of windy massive (hot) stars, then among those: 2. From the list of stars currently being observed by BRITE, as indicated on the BRITE wiki: http://brite.craq-astro.ca/doku.php . Currently BRITE is observing the CMaPup field (click on it and you'll see the list of stars oops, sorry they're not up yet for some reason - I'll get after this; but I do know that the O+O binary UW CMa is being observed). The next field is CruCar (the targets are listed now). And so on... Hope this helps. Now go for it! Your help in this will be much appreciated. These are all very bright stars, so fairly easy to get frequent high-quality spectra. Hi Bernard! Zitat: I am wondering if there is a way we can coordinate/communicate with
Because the SASER team is hidden in the Web it would be best to announce the procedure how to become a list member so that everybody in the north is informed and can join SASER. The other possibility would be that SASER goes VdS forum. I am in both groups, so I do not mind. I presume the former is the better way to go because SASER is homogeneous, reliable and highly organized. In contrast to the south there is no real team organizer in the north. any northern hemisphere amateurs who plan to participate, especially if we happen to pick some stars visible to both north and south. Hi Thomas, As you well know SASER is just a small southern email ring designed to allow campaign specific coordination between amateurs and pros and not a general discussion forum. As SASER membership is limited to amateurs willing and able to contribute spectra I think the best way to collaborate with a northern BRITE contributor is for that person to contact me via this forum and I can then add them to the SASER list. That is exactly what I mean, Bernard! SASER is exclusively for the observers and should continue like that. Cheers, Thomas |

Hi again: The currently observed field with BRITE, CMa/Pup, is now on the wiki so you can choose your stars as of point 2. below.

Hello Berthold: Which campaign are you referring to? BRITE is not observing the Perseus filed now; it was already done in 2014/15. eps Per will, however, be observed again by BRITE starting next September. The PI for this star is Gerald Handler, now in Warsaw. Hi Tony, perhaps I confused something. Prof. Gerald Handler is now inetrested at this time on those spectra of this star. He asked me to create some spectra. herzlicher Gruss berthold |
