Subject: [fg spektroskopie] amateur supernova confirmed using
modified ALPY 200

Hello
everyone,
I first showed details of my modified ALPY "200" spectrograph
in a
poster paper at ASPEKT 2014.
http://www.threehillsobservatory.co.uk/ ... opy_20.htm
This weekend I
used it to confirm and classify a mag 16.5 possible
supernova discovered by
an amateur group (GSST). You can see details
and my spectrum here on
the IAU Transient Name
Server
https://wis-tns.weizmann.ac.il/object/2016bme
I think this could be
the first time a supernova has been discovered
and confirmed as a supernova
by amateurs without professional help.
(This has been an ambition of mine
for a long time
)
Cheers
Robin
