Certainly, without FITs, it is not possible to measure. Many of my observations, in FIT format (along with those of other observers), are available to everyone at
http://basebe.obspm.fr/basebe/, and
http://www.astrosurf.com /asas/Aras_DataBase/DataBase.htm.
I have also participated in star observing campaigns for analysts who have asked for me. I am an observer, (more or less good), and I try to do my job well. I have the advantage that there are many good nights here in the South of the Pyrenees.
I did not even worry about analyzing my observations. Firstly, because I should learn and do the right job, and secondly, because I would like to use a time that I need to observe and get the results obtained.
I think, here at VdS, there are many people prepared to do these types of analysis. At VdS there are also many people prepared for spectroscopic observation, but the problem is that atmospheric conditions are not very good in central Europe.
A few days ago I asked the ARAS spectroscopy forum. The question is this. Has anyone ever considered (personally or collectively) installing a remote telescope in the South of the Pyrenees? To give an example: fortunately, Germany and Barcelona are very well connected by plane. The rest to Santa Maria de Montmagastrell, are about 100 km by highway, more 15 km. for a good road. To Sta. Maria, there is also another observatory, the one of Josep M. Bosch, with a SC16 and a CCD 1001, he observes and discovers asteroids until the 21/22 mag., and also, (very important), there is a person of support in Antoni Jové, he lives to 10 km.
Here perhaps, I only show the good face of everything, the problems already come alone, but they are overcome.
When observing at stars, last year, in 2017 I made about 800 specters and during this month of January and the 80's. Certainly with the two telescopes, one in Piera and the other in Sta. Maria. I will not sleep later than 1 at night.
